The VA assigned a 10% rating based on the fact that I had a condition prior to service with no disabling problems, but it was aggravated due to service over the years. I was prescribed orthopedic inserts for my combat boots, but still continued to have some pain. All these continuous visits resulted in my referral to an orthopedic surgeon (seen by this doctor for my last 1.5 years). During this last 2 year period, I had numerous visits to the clinic for my feet. My last 2 years of service was where I started having problems with pes planus. I was able to function fine prior to entering service and through most of my service. My MEPS physical has a record of bilateral pes planus (no xray, just the dx), but I did not have any other problems prior to entering service.
